BONNETH · June 9, 2020 ·

Marriage is the most beautiful thing in the world. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out. As much as we’d like to think that marriages last forever until your very last breath, it doesn’t go that way for everyone. For some, marriages break and fail. Marriages don’t always comprise of happiness and contentment, and they can end up in disaster if you aren’t careful enough. In this article, we’ll be discussing 10 ways to mend a broken marriage easily.

1). Reflect on your marriage

If you’re marriage is falling apart, it falls apart for a reason. Before doing any necessary action to fix your issues, take this time to see your marriage for what is. It may be difficult, but reflect on your own flaws as a spouse. Of course it’s not all your fault, but realizing your faults in the marriage is a big step in fixing it. You have to first take responsibility for your own faults if you want to mend a broken marriage.

2). Ask yourself the right questions

Have you been working too much? Do you not give them your time? Are you neglecting your responsibilities in the family? Are you being selfish? Do you have a temper? Do you avoid confrontation? These are all examples of questions you should ask yourself if you want to figure out what’s wrong in your marriage. By asking all the right questions, you know which aspects to fix in your broken marriage.

3). Go back

When I say go back, this isn’t literally. This simply means go back to when you were falling in love with them. Whatever made you fall in love with them in the first place, go back to the whys and think about the beautiful memories on what made them capture your heart in the first place. There are no gender roles when it comes to a marriage and if you need to, pretend you’re making them fall in love with you again. There’s what we call the honeymoon stage of a relationship, and this is what you want your spouse to feel again to mend your broken marriage. You need to make the attraction and chemistry alive again, just like it used to be.

4). Be romantic again

Buy them gifts, give them flowers, surprise them with a romantic dinner if you want to mend your broken marriage. You need to bring back the spark and let each other remember the whys of your marriage. Remind them why you said yes to marrying each other, and bring back the attraction and chemistry in the relationship. Don’t ever underestimate the power of romance to mend the brokenness of any marriage. For all you know, that’s all that’s lacking.

5). Communicate

You know what they say, that communication is key in any successful marriage. You need to open up about the important things in your marriage, and it’s time you overcome that fear of confrontation to mend your broken marriage. Express whatever it is you feel about your marriage, and fix those issues together. You need to listen and hear each other on what really bothers you.

6). Physical intimacy

Part of why a marriage falls apart is the lack of chemistry, attraction and intimacy. When you become physically intimate with your spouse again, this might bring part of the chemistry and attraction back. Marriages can fail due to a lack of this aspect, and maybe this is exactly what you need to mend your marriage. Of course, this doesn’t mean use physical intimacy to block out the existing issues in your marriage but rather, use it as a stepping stone to bring the chemistry and sparks back.

7). Stop cheating

You can’t mend a marriage if you’re not focused on fixing it. If either one of you is cheating or there’s any cheating involves, you should stop right now if you still want to mend your broken marriage. As long as there’s still a marriage to fix, there’s still hope for the both of you. However, you do need to remember to choose each other and remind yourself of why you married them in the first place. Love is a constant decision, and it isn’t always feeling that love- especially in a long-term relationship such as a marriage.

8). Go away for a weekend

Nothing says romance like going on a beach trip for a weekend together. Pretend you’re on your honeymoon again, and focus all your attention on them. Use this weekend to put your distractions them and simply spend time with them. Maybe you are lacking in giving them quality time, and this is the perfect opportunity to make it up to your spouse. Time is the most concrete thing in the world, and maybe this is all they need from you to believe in your marriage again.

9). Really listen to them

The problem with communication is that you might be listening to them, but you don’t comprehend what they need from you. Understand that each person has needs with love, and you need to provide those needs so your spouse feels the most loved. Maybe you don’t understand each other on the same level, and this is why they feel neglected or unappreciated.

10). Be their best friend

In any successful marriage, you need to be their best friend and life partner for the rest of their life. Even when attraction fades but you have that friendship, you have a solid foundation that will make your marriage last a long period of time. In fact, a friendship in a marriage is your best bet in mending a broken marriage.

In conclusion, these are 10 ways to mend a broken marriage. Take note that no marriage is beyond repair and as long as the two of you still want to patch things up, your marriage can be filled with romance and life once again. In any successful marriage, you need compromise, communication and understanding to make things work. You’ll see that when you take care of your spouse and of your marriage, it’s possible to bring a broken marriage back to life.
